CanadaFest has been the largest festival on Hollywood Beach for the past 33 years and continues to attract large crowds of Canadians. The Hollywood Beach Broadwalk is one of the only facilities where tourist can walk along a beautiful landscaped Broadwalk and enjoy the sight of the Atlantic Ocean while visiting shops and restaurants along the beach. Florida beaches have gradually been overloaded with condominium on the ocean side preventing tourist from direct access to the beach. The City of Hollywood developed the beach for tourist as well as for permanent and winter residents.
CanadaFest will be held on Saturday January 28 and Sunday January 29, 2017 on the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk. It is organized by LE SOLEIL DE LA FLORIDE, the largest and oldest French newspaper in South Florida. The actual festival of music and entertainment is under the direction of the newspaper’s Executive Vice-President, Yves Beauchamp, who has been in charge of the festival for almost 20 years.
The City of Hollywood is again one of the major sponsors of this annual event along with several Canadian and U. S. advertisers as co-sponsors. This festival, which brings thousands of Canadian tourists to Hollywood Beach each year, continues to be the most popular meeting place for Canadians to spend time with their friends who reside in different parts of Florida.
There is continuous music from approximately 10:00 A.M. until dark on both days of the festivals with most of the entertainers coming from Canada. Many of the exhibiters are companies related to Canada, such as various banks serving the Florida market.
Since many plan their Florida vacations around the CanadaFest week-end it has become the busiest week-end for the merchants on Hollywood Beach.
The Broadwalk on Hollywood Beach is one of the last remaining beaches where you can walk along the beach for several miles without having any buildings between you and the ocean. It was designed to be people friendly with shops and restaurants lining up the Broadwalk.
Many of the Florida beaches are over developed and very few of them have large walkways along the white sandy beaches of the East Coast of Florida.
CanadaFest is also one of the few free events attracting tourist to Florida.
Canadian tourism keeps increasing in Florida, especially when cold weather hits the North. Although the Canadian dollar has been weaker the past few years, the Florida sales taxes, cost of food and liquor and cost of fuel are much lower than in Canada.
A large crowd is expected again this year at Canadafest.
Come spend your day with your friends at CanadaFest. It’s fun and free.
